Last night was The Sahara @ Boat Quay with Zhiquan, Chunhan, Nazri, Nicole, Xiaoxian. Woo! SHIIISHA :) and drinking and eating! So high! And walking along the river and at Clarke Quay is romantic, even with friends :) Yay!

Today was lunch at Jack's Place with Xinhui and Matthew. And fixing my spoilt phone LCD screen for $80 (super fast! collection tomorrow at 11am) and research at LKC with Maoqian. Then dinner at Sushi Tei @ Raffles City!

CRAZY! Non stop good food and fun! WOOO! :)

My social life was totally redeemed this weekend.

Don't you feel so unappreciated sometimes?

Someone's always trying too hard.

Some things that make me happy!: hugs, friends, camwhoring, photos, smiles, rainbows, sunsets, hanging out!

"I have much farther to go
Everything is new and so unpredictable
I should just kick my heels together and go home
But I'm not sure where that is anymore

Something about love and how it's worth living for
I wonder does love like that exist anymore?"
- Much Farther to Go - Rosie Thomas

Today, I sat for 5 hours outside my cupboard. The one where I keep everything that's precious to me.. I took everything out, and started putting everything back in. I took out the countless notes I've received from classmates, groupmates, friends, all the postcards, small pieces of paper, origami hearts and such. I read through them, and remembered the times when life was so much simpler and happier. Star Wars fanaticism, icecream, my notebooks.

I'm probably the only one who's kept everything. Every single piece of memory I have left of those IP days, and the new ones as who I am now. I put all the gifts and presents I've received over these years back in, and all the small stuff that reminds me of those days, but I kept the notes and Christmas cards outside. I'm going to put them in a box so that I can pick a random one out and read it when I'm feeling lonely on a rainy day.

Time's really flying.

I'm running out of time.

Thank you for the memories :)

Today was a turning point for me! :)

- Geography CT: I started with essays first and I managed to complete all the questions to my satisfaction! Yay :)
- Math CT: For once, the number of marks I lost not doing questions (26) means that I have a chance, no matter how minute, of scoring an A in Math! It's better than not doing 40 marks worth of questions. Woo!

After the Geography CT, the Air Force called me! It was probably some Air Force recruitment officer and he asked if I was interested in joining the Air Force as a PILOT! He cited my previous experience and participation in the Singapore Youth Flying Club and asked if I wanted to join the RSAF.

I agreed and he asked me to go down on 18 July at CMPB (yet again!) for a computerised test. This is my second real opportunity to become a pilot, to fulfil my childhood dream, after I turned the last one down after my first flight at SYFC. Signs :)

Wingyan and I dinnered at Popeyes! :) WOO! I haven't had fried chicken in AGES (literally, the last time was when I was 17). Haha it was nice looking at aircraft again. When I reached home after dinner, I found this PSC letter inviting me to a PSC scholarships fair, the one that I think most people who took the psychometric test got.

And so, with paths suddenly laid down in front of me, I seriously started thinking about my career and scholarships opportunities. I have decided to apply for SIA's open scholarship because the requirements are straightforward and it's something I'm really interested in! But I dunno when to apply cos they din't say so. Probably after A's results come out. Long way to go.

Happy today :)

Went to LKC library today with da homies - Mao Qian, Leon, Chunhan, Aaron. Haha it was fruitful! I managed to get all my secondary research for H3 geography, the foundational info for my KI IS content, and edited my new H3 to 1000 words. Woo! My conceptual framework's finally coming into place and I just added learning environment as another concept. Things seem a little brighter now! Had lunch and dinner with wingyan too :)

I WANNA TRAVEL AGAIN!!

My photos of Victorians in China are up on Facebook!
http://www.facebook.com/photos.php?id=716576407

In retrospect, I've never been homesick before. Yes, I've missed clean toilets with paper while I was at Paka and China; yes, I've missed my soft bed at home; yes, I've missed local cuisine; yes, most of all, I've missed my friends and loved ones, but I've never felt homesick.

I was born to travel this world. I derive happiness from exploring new lands, wandering the urban landscape past midnight, walking through cities alone, soaking in the atmosphere of foreign worlds. Wanderlust - a strong desire to travel and explore the world.

On another note, I lunched at Temasek Polytechnic with Beverley and Matthew today! It's such a nice campus! Like a scaled down version of a university. The gardens are pretty and it's on the edge of Bedok Reservoir! The food's really good too. They have a few canteens. Gosh. I bought folders from there to use to hold my stuff. I shall scribble VJC all over it. And draw my own VJC logo. Haha!

Today was an interesting day! :) In the morning, Daniel and I went to CMPB for our medical check. I got an extra vial of blood drawn out from me hahaha. Some of the computer tests were quite tough, especially the algebra ones ): Don't like algebra. But I can still do math patterns really well! Yay (: And physics!

Result: PES A1!

After that, we walked out of CMPB, a bit lost cos it was in some ulu place called Depot Road. We found our way to the MRT and to Raffles City for lunch with my wonderful PW group! :) We lunched at Shukudo - a Marche-like Japanese place - and I shared soft-shelled crab and cheese and bacon omu with Daniel and had Rosti for myself. MMM! Then we were quite aimless and ended up camwhoring at the roof terrace garden at the Esplanade! :) WHEE!!

My five favourite Chinese to camwhore with!
1. The Honourable Chairman Mao

2. The People's Liberation Army

3. The Great Wall of China

4. Tiananmen Square

5. China's Volleyball team

Back from Beijing!

I'm missing my home in a land faraway...

I won't do a travelogue this time because in China, I've seen so much more, more than mere words could ever encompass, more emotion than language can express, more memories than could be told. Also, I'm busy - H3 Geography, Indepedent Study, and the looming Common Tests 2... So much to do, so little time. Perhaps one day I'll do a whole travelogue thing, when I'm free from the clutches of work. I've seen so much in China, more than I have in Tokyo, London, Putrajaya, even Auckland.

It's hard to find a place to start, but I know where's appropriate: The End.

I feel a great loss, a vast emptiness that follows me after such a huge event has passed. Like what I felt after No Holds Barred, or SYF, or my 18th birthday. I feel torn apart - my heart's at home here in Tampines, yet also in Beijing. I've gone on a great trip, traversed lands and climbed mountains and crossed oceans. I've seen the greatest and the worst, the richest and the poorest. I landed at 6AM this morning, half-awake. Seeing the familiar-yet-unfamiliar sight of Singapore, my home, I felt ambivalent. I'm trying to get myself used to Singapore - ironic.

There's only one way to tell this tale, only one way that would suitably honour the event - blogging about it day by day, as the memories start to fade, recollecting what I can, and living to tell the tale. So here I begin, with bits and pieces.

  1. Egg and Tomato Soup is EVERYWHERE! We had it everyday, sometimes even thrice! Either that, or Seaweed in Seawater Soup! HAHA.

  2. I can shop damn good! I got damn good bargains! I have learnt well from Wingyan and Lenard and all the others. I learnt how to walk away and getting the best prices. When the salespeople saw me, they immediately gave me the lowest price. HAHA I'm damn good. I got a 32GB thumbdrive! And lots of other crazy stuff! WOO!

  3. Hotels and restaurants in China should be rated by their toilets: how clean the toilet is, the presence of toilet paper and whether the toilet is seatable.

  4. The resilience of the Chinese in the face of adversity is remarkable, and one has to be in the country to really feel the spirit of such a great nation facing times of darkness.

  5. Escaping "tourist traps" and living the authentic Chinese experience brings about much more learning and understanding than visiting places like the Forbidden City and the Great Wall. Try taking the Subway during the rush hour, walking through the CBD and going to places where only locals haunt!

  6. One has to be in China to understand the Chinese as a people, as a society, as a piece of history, as a nation and as a land. Every step taken in China brings new insights that you'll never understand in class, or never will find anywhere else.
