An exciting day, no doubt!

I went to school way early, my dad drove me to BK to get my craved Bacon Croissanwich. Then it was the final PW phase, filing our GPF. WOO. We were the first group to finish and it was PERFECT. I looove perfection :) Then 6 of us guys went to Thaipan for lunch! Olive Fried Rice! Saw the juniors there haha. Then went back and slept. And... guess what!

I JUST ORDERED MY IPOD NANO!!!

It gets kinda boring when you get whatever you want. HAHA But yay! Finally :) Darkside can no longer complain about the fishes swimming around in my MP3 player HAHA.

To Darkside on Facebook:

"HAHA I just ordered an iPod Nano. Now you can no longer SMIRK at the fish swimming in my mp3 player. HAH."

Edit: KENA SUAN. Darkside: "iPod Nano? Ermm.. I just received a new iTouch. The click wheel is so.... well, anyway, I am still smirking."

Yay. AND OMG I WATCHED HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL CONCERT!!!

Haha but gosh, Vanessa Hudgens is so tainted now. Hoho. She's still hot to me though. LOL.

As of this moment, 23:44, 30 October 2007 AD, I consider

PROJECT WORK OVER

WHEE. Oral presentation was at 8. I was the first speaker, first group, first day! Haha quite cool. Then we went to class lunch at Gelare, Plaza Singapura, in celebration of a wonderful occasion. Something I'd like to call Freedom.

Then I left the group and watched Molière, a comedy about the "several months of Molière's early life that are unknown to scholars". Molière, by the way, "was a French playwright and actor who is considered one of the greatest masters of comedy in Western literature." Now you know. It's at PictureHouse! Super funny!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moli%C3%A8re_%28film%29

We had dinner at Cathay :) Oyster Mee Sua! Haha it's quite nice, one Taiwanese street dish. Yum! Thanks for a wonderful day :)

Just completed my Insights and Reflections! HAHA that means PW is OVER, not technically because we have to pack everything tomorrow, but who cares, to me PW AND CHINESE is over for the rest of my life! :) WHEE.

Smell the fresh, flower-scented, sea-breezed breath of my best friend in the whole world, Freedom.

I am super excited for three reasons!

1) No more Chinese FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!!!

The paper was fine, a bit unpredictable like all papers, but as long as I get at least an E, preferably a B, I'm happy!

2) Tomorrow's the end of official schooldays and schoolwork for the year!

Oral presentation tomorrow! First speaker, first group, first day - means I'm the very first to speak during OP in the whole cohort! After that, it's I&R, then OVER. And also, I'm going out after OP! :)

3) I found my black first-gen 4GB iPod Nano!!!

http://store.apple.com/1800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/singaporestore.woa/wa/RSLID?nplm=FA107ZP/A

YAY!!! It's refurbished, but that's still like new. And the price makes it totally worth it! I'm getting it this week! And it delivers within 24 hours. WOOHOO! :)

Goodbye CHINESE, forever and ever and forevermore!

Let's get this done with! :)

All the best everyone!

I love this video!
Saturday Night Live - I Ran So Far Away
http://youtube.com/watch?v=OqqB5HXgyU0

Should be studying Chinese, but I'm looking at NZ photos, and the questions are running through my head again.

What if it had been earlier?

I miss NZ again... it's been pretty long. Just like how I still dream of UK, random snapshots still come back at times. Like missing the times I could just sit on my bed at the window, looking over London, writing random stuff under the moonlight in the dark. Or walking through the streets myself, taking in the sights and sounds. And in NZ, missing the times I walked through Auckland myself, spending a day without any distractions, going up the Sky Tower and looking out over the wonderful wonderful city. Or standing atop mountains, looking over endless lands. Or spending time with the wonderful friends I made during that trip :) If only...

Why is it now that I feel a lack of meaning in my life? I feel like I'm just going around in circles, putting in so much effort for nothing. Do I get any happiness out of A's, out of compliments, out of academic success? It's just so pointless. Just a letter, a number, a piece of paper. Maybe I'm just tired again. I feel now that the only thing can really make me happy is love. Just to be surrounded by love all around, and to be able to love as much too. Sigh, I'm starting to not make sense. It's been a long day.

Chinese: I walked out at 9 am. Last Chinese lesson FOREVER!!!

Humanities Research H3 briefing: Sat with V13 people! Ahh.

Geography H3 group interview: Answered questions, listened to preparation stuff, got a HOLIDAY ASSIGNMENT :( 700 word research essay! To determine if we're fit for it or not. AHHH. But anyway, after that, Najib told me I'm confirmed in H3 Geog already (I think that's what he means when he says I have a confirmed slot), so I guess not much pressure.

PW Oral Presentation rehearsals: I've stopped swinging my shoulders I think. Got most of the script memorised, but still need to slow down even more. Should be okay liao, hope we'll all get a grade 1! :) We probably will. Put in so much effort for this! Go VJ075!

VITA 2: Dinner, talking crap, the same old jokes, songs, laughter. I still feel at home in v13, even though I know so many of you guys have moved on. I just really feel comfortable with all those people, so able to fit into the in-jokes that we'll never forget, the laughter and crazy times we've had. It kinda hurts to see that some people move on so easily, so easily that they don't even turn up when they can... I'm glad I was there. Thanks for another great evening :)

Facebook has taken all my friends from me :(

I have to admit, though Facebook is rather messy, sinful, lustful and downright dirty, it's pretty addictive AND freaking funny. Like, just for today...

1. Wenshu claims that we dated and hooked up and that it was fun. HAHA
2. Darkside:

"Hey there Mark,

Ahh, you're finally on Facebook. As a Facebook neophyte (and even though you are disdainful of it), let me warn you that it can be quite addictive!

Best wishes, James Koh

Ps - Friendster is so Web 2.0. Facebook is Web 2.5 at least:) "

Omg when did he start using smiley faces? SCARY.

- You have a Mate request.
Lim Shi Kang sent a request using Make A Baby:
Your friend wants to Make A Baby with you!

I can't believe I would actually say this one day:

I have given in to Facebook.

I feel both ashamed and unclean. I feel helpless, weak, violated, betrayed, dirtied. Forgive me, oh one, oh Friendster. I will be faithful and true to you. Do not strike me down.

So unclean...

The Age of Friendster is over, the Age of Facebook has begun.

ANYWAY, omg I'm like super full. SAKAE SUSHI BUFFET. With Charissa and Daniel. 30 plates!

Plus random stuff. And the last part was the best. The both of them ate Wasabiko sushi at the same time, dipped in wasabi shoyu. These are their reactions! I call these the three stages of the art of Wasabi.

teohong:

You have been nominated to chair the oral presentations at the following venues during the symposium 2007. Your experience is valuable.
Your role is articulated below:
You will play the role of introducing the 2 presentations at each venue, you will also chair the Q and A, as well as, " Ensure that concurrent sessions run more or less on time, so that the transition between sessions is smooth. (May have to play by ear, may have to start a little later if room is not filled by audience.)" as well as to " Make sure the room is tidy and lights and air con are switched off when the event ends."
Please reply to tell me if you are accepting the nomination.
I will field (BAD VOCAB!!!) you in on your respective venue's presentations when the time is ripe.
Many thanks!

So that's that. I was going to pon symposium, but now I'm going. Ah well.

Today was a wonderful day! We had an OP run with 07S52.

Comments to self:
Good - confident, infectious enthusiasm
Bad - need to memorise points, swing shoulders even less, speak slower

Then we went to the ulu part of Orchard. Starting from Tanglin, we walked the length of Orchard Road. And stopped at Tanglin, Forum, Pacific, Takashimaya, Centrepoint. It's like the has-been stretch of Orchard, once hip, now forgotten, yet quaint in its own way. And another Ch-ch-ch-CHOCOLIXIR. The Mint Dark Chocolate one. OOOH gosh it's sooo good but so not worth it. It's a guilty pleasure. MMM. Sexy.

Wahlao. My parents have this new idea of making me use my own money to buy my stuff. Today I was like "I want a new camera" (since everyone's been saying my camera's ancient) and they said "ok, but you take your own money out from your account ok?" Ok, maybe it's time I started doing that. It so happens that the money in my account belongs to them anyway. Ever since August, all the money I've been drawing from my ATM account is from my own bank account ): Then now they're making me pay for the expensive stuff!

Currently, these include:
- A new camera

Dunno if they're paying for my new bag and new shoes etc etc. But yay, camera! I want a DIGITAL IXUS.

Jay Chou is the pinnacle of C-Pop. He’s the only Chinese artist actually worth noticing and listening to. Not only that, it’s hard to find a Western artist that can compare to him, even though there’re so many more worth listening to in English music. Musician, singer, producer, actor, director, pianist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist. To me, one of the only artists able to compare to Jay Chou in the same arena is Jason Mraz.

Their ability to combine different musical and cultural styles in a single song without destroying any of them is a talent. This sort of mushc I term "eclectic", and it's my favourite. Eclectic music not just about mixing different styles, because anyone can do that, it's about selecting the best of each musical genre and style, blending them into a melodious harmony, while adding in lyrics that are worthy of such music.

It’s really amazing what one person can achieve in his lifetime.

I just watched a re-enactment of the Bali bombings and the events leading up to it, and the events after. And it seems the killings never ever stop. Not in Rwanda, not in Darfur, not in Iraq, not in Indonesia, not in Afghanistan, not anywhere in the world.

Take a look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_terrorist_incidents#2007

Every few days, and usually within less than a week, a bomb goes off somewhere in the world, killing tens, even hundreds at times. Every few days, not weeks, months, or years. Multiple incidents happen on the same day, in different parts of the world. The killings never end.

The Muslim man in the documentary said that the terrorists who carried out the Bali bombings had no idea, no understanding of what Islam is. I believe that terrorists have no understanding whatsoever about their true cause – religion, ideology, race, culture. No major religion advocates murder, nor the massacre of hundreds of people for some “cause”.

He said that the terrorists believed that by bombing and killing innocent targets, they would have a shortcut to Heaven, and he went on to say that there is no shortcut to Heaven, just a long, difficult road every Muslim has to take.

It’s the same for every religion. There is no easy way to paradise. It’s not just about religion. It’s about what it means to be human. We are imperfect, but by our actions, we can overcome these imperfections. I believe that if we examine religions a little more closely, we’ll find more similarities than differences.

Not about what god we believe in, not about the way to paradise, not the way we worship or pray. But in the way that each religion seeks to make this world a better place for each and every human, not for themselves, but for the people of the lands, and the generations to come.

People all around the world have to understand that it is not killing, fighting, trying to be better at something than someone, trying to be the best, trying to be perfect, for ourselves, that will get us where we want to, but it is by trying to be the best for everyone else other than ourselves that will give us the greatest satisfaction. What the world needs is not bloodshed, not victories, not losses, but love. It’s so simple yet so complex, so easily said but difficulty done. But it should not stop anyone from trying. The world needs a little more happiness.

But I just want you to be happy :)

Sometimes things don't go your way, but you take it them as they are. You can’t really change what has happened. So I don’t really get stressed or upset about stuff that has happened, stuff like geog, not buying that Disney keychain in Tokyo, being emo in UK etc etc, but I do worry about what I could do now, what I can do now, what I should do. We should aim to change what we still can to make our days better for us and for those around us.

People always say “time flies”. Too many times - its meaning is lost. And no one realises it till it’s too late. Like now, when we had so much time and so many opportunities to make things better, to appreciate the things we have, the people we have by our side, the many times we could have made the right choice or just be happy. Or sometimes we do make the best of our time, but it’s just not enough. Like IP. I know I really did make the best of my time in IP, but when we leave, there’s no way to stop that feeling of emptiness – a void created when a piece of your heart is taken away.

Let’s make the best we have of this time, because there’s really not much left. A couple of months seems like such a long time with all that we’ve enjoyed and gone through and the moments we’ve spent together, but in retrospect, it’s really just passed too fast. There isn’t much time left, because we’ll just be so so so busy next year.

Look at this year. We’re just year ones and everyone’s so dispersed and so busy, our relationships diffused over time and distance. It’s so hard to even organise a gathering, or just go out. I’m so scared that there won’t be enough time next year, but truthfully, who has enough time? I know we try our best to balance everything but sometimes it’s too hard and we just break under the pressure. There’s so much to be done and so little time. I wish they didn’t expect us to live our lives this way because it’s really not good for us.

I just wish I had more time to tell you.

Yay, a wonderful day! I ponned almost everything. Shouldn't have come to school in the first place. But a satisfying day even though I'm still really drained and tired. No PE, math lect I ponned, KI i ponned. No papers back, and spent most of the time sitting and stoning around and just talking. And went to 7-11 and tried the walnut flavoured milk! Quite nice! It tastes like mooncakes! Went off and headed to Orchard to look at random stuff.

Had Saybons for dinner! :) Soup and foccacia :) I recommend this to everyone! Healthy living everyone!

He had:

Sundried Tomato Butter
'Tangy spread with real bits of sundried tomatoes.'

Seafood Bisque
'Fresh crabs paired with sweet flavour of prawns to create a rich seafood bisque. A treat for all seafood lovers.'

She had:

Garlic Herb Butter
'Delicious combination of garlic and herbs.'

Broccoli & Cheddar
'A perfect balance of taste and nutrition. Another superfood, broccoli packs good amounts of Vitamin A & calcium. A cup of broccoli packs as much Vitamin C as an orange!'

OPEN HOUSE!!!

Haha not bad. We've got about 30 signups. Turnout a bit less than last year, probably cos it was such a freaking hot day, but still not bad. Mass dance was fun! :) and the free icecream. Haha. Quite looking forward to seeing juniors next year.

Had dinner at Asia Grand, Odeon Towers. Some Chinese-Cantonese restaurant famous for the Peking duck. OMGOMGOMG. Quite cool, the service is table by table, so you get one waiter assigned to your table that kind. And the duck is like omg. They carve the skin out, wrap it around a spring onion, and wrap the whole thing in an egg roll and dip it in the sauce. Wow. The other dishes were ok, stuff like salmon sashimi salad. They served the duck meat leftover from the Peking duck with noodles. The dessert's not bad too! Mmm. Peking duck. But gosh, the fats. THE FATS.

You wish you could trust some people
