Love doesn't make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.
~ Franklin P. Jones

A friend is someone with whom you dare to be yourself.
~ Frank Crane

When a friend is in trouble, don't annoy him by asking if there is anything you can do. Think up something appropriate and do it.

Only from the heart can you touch the sky.
~ Jalaluddin Rumi

If you love somebody, let them go, for if they return, they were always yours. And if they don't, they never were.
~ Kahlil Gibran

I let go. Nothing ever came back.

It’s been a pretty great school week. But as lisabelle once said, it just takes one person to make you feel unloved. After all that optimism in happiness and love, thanks for bringing me back down to earth. We live in a real world.

maybe it’s cos it’s a red day for us.

Our bball is gonna die. haha I practiced w sean during pe. from 3-pointer to inner, score frequency is 10% to 30% to 50%. Ahh. how. I hope we can win other sports. =) We watched Patch Adams today. Amazing movie. How one can bring happiness into the lives of people in the worst situations. It gave me some hope that happiness can be found in life. we’ve been so conditioned to see life full of suffering, stress, shocks. there is love and happiness in this world. all it takes to show is us. =)

random aim in life: get Andy Warhol to paint something pop art with you in it.

“Elohim, God on high
Can you hear your people cry:
Help us now
This dark hour...”

“One people one planet
Don't take your brother for granted
Shake a hand make a friend
And let the love begin

At the sound of the drum
The race is run
Man vs. Man
For number one
But if we call it a truce
There's no way we could lose
A winner's vanity
In such insanity
There's just one race humanity”

Haha a great day. The past 3 days have been great, a good start to the term, and hopefully it carries on. Got to have some hands-on during physics. Haha got back Chinese! 94/100! =) *is happy* then math which was great cos I can do integration! (well, at least for now) and ss was quite fun. economics seems like a great subject. I feel pretty eager to take e as a subject for jc. hmm. oh oh! i once did a economic SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis of Singapore. haha and got like high for it. 2612 words in point form, 40+ pages of selected research. I think it’s possibly the biggest research assignment I did in DHS.

gosh now I’m looking at my s1 and s2 writing. ahh bus park! I wonder if anyone still remembers it. it was seminal I tell you. and the lost boy and all the crazy work we did. the skits! the poker pigs’ animal fart! – “YOU SHALL NOT PASS urine. On the wheat.” wth! then eminem merchant of Venice.

Salerio: Yo, ANTONIO! Wassup!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!

BEST PART!!!

Bassanio: No, man. Just that…there’s this girl, [removed]. You’ve heard of her before, eh? I mean…look at it this way…

*goes into demonic trance*

Look, if you had…one shot.
One opportunity…
To seize everything you ever wanted.
One moment…
Would you capture it…
Or just let it slip.
Yo, yo.

gosh, SB, JS – that was pwnage and we all know it. omgosh I just found a whole presentation that could be a beginner’s course to aerodynamics! then RAFFLES IS 1337 with

RAFFLES: HOW COOL IS HE
RAFFLES: T3H POWA
RAFFLES: PH34R HIM
FARQUHAR: INCOMPETENT
CRAWFURD: CRAP

I’m amazed we din’t fail and actually got A. oO oh, but the good days. I should have had a camera then. then can replay all the crazy stuff. I miss you guys. =)

22:16

haha today was a good day! =) *is happy* chi test was pretty easy, i might even get full marks! =) then lang arts was cool. we're onto race and identity. it's a very very good topic. especially when i've read the whole Noah's sons thing. is the bible racist?

"Africans are thus anciently understood to be the sons of Ham, particularly his descendant Cush"
"Japheth is traditionally seen as the ancestor of Europeans, as well as some more eastern nations"
"Religious Jews and Arabs consider themselves sons of Shem"

read genesis 10: http://www.rosicrucian.com/bible/01_gen.htm

009:022
And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.
009:023
And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.
009:024
And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.
009:025
And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.
009:026
And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.
009:027
God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

My dad says that this is a spiritual curse that was broken when Jesus saved all of us. So I believe the bible isn't racist. Racists just read it in the wrong context to provide grounds for their acts.

Race and identity is gonna be one of the most interesting topics we've done. Identity is the best.

And after 6 hours of work, I've finished my chinese photobook and i'm proud of it! It's nice =) Kinda simple, but the effort I put in was really worth it. and it cost $12, $11+ spent on printing the photos cos the 20c/print shop was closed. gah. oh but yay =)

never keep it real.

What Your Soul Really Looks Like

You are very passionate and quite temperamental. While you can be moody, you always crave comfort.

You are not a very grounded person. You prefer dreams to reality. For you, it's all about possibilities.

You see yourself with pretty objective eyes. How you view yourself is almost exactly how other people view you.

Your near future is a lot like the present, and as far as you're concerned, that's a very good thing.

For you, love is all about caring and comfort. You couldn't fall in love with someone you didn't trust.

Inside the Room of Your Soul

who can you even trust anymore?

Class chalet. in the end, it wasn’t that bad at all. haha first day met sam, xtine, xx at white sands then went to chalet. then we tricked nazri, jared, ch, Justin, kog into going to P06 instead of R05. hahaha. played football. really muddy. I suck at football. should have let my dad trained me. but oh well I don’t really like football anyway. then washed up. went for dinner. then ARCADEEEE. haha played world combat with naz, Justin, kog. reached lieutenant, was leader with all the medals. haha I’m good =) oh and my time crisis 3 that day was pretty good too! haha. I dint realise till it was too late that the gear was like on highest tension or smth. Justin said put both sides on L. ah well. no wonder so tiring. haha I wanna got overnight cycling again! haha and I could ride nonstop from ECP to faber. then bbq and incredible tales! ahhaha cool la. scaring naz. haha. it wasn’t like a horror show la. more spiritual and superstition kind of thing. project runway. which is a really bitchy show. but the dresses are nice. oh oh we watched this prc cartoon in the morn haha. spent the whole damn night talking about a certain letter in the alphabet then somemore people keep saying third leg. wah. so I slept at 6am. till 1030. checked out, went to wild wild wet. first ride, sat with yr on the upslide. wah. hate this kinda stuff. ahah. zoom down. but ok la. the adrenaline is really cool. then the slides. oh oh! I like the long slides. haha. the pitchblack one with the turns, and the 7 ppl one which we took tgt haha. yay. then the tsunami wave pool thing. www isn’t that bad after all. that marked the end of the chalet.

But everybody's changing

I don't think I have the time for the blogtemp revamp I wanted. I have the pieces liao, but no time to fit them together. These 2 days I've been trying to do work. But I really can't. I'm thinking so much about other stuff, things that should matter less to me than work, but they just take over my life. And keeps haunting me. That day. That scene. That photo. That kind of stuff. It doesn't matter what others say. I might try to focus, but I can't. It's the sick, empty feeling that that kind of stuff brings into me, and it's not like physical hurt that will go away after a while, it's the kind of hurt that lingers like a stench even after the worst is over, and it just keeps haunting and hurting haunting and hurting, until one day, hopefully, you forget every fragment of it.

And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would
Like to say to you
But I don't know how

You Are 0% Redneck

I'll slap you so hard, your clothes will be outta style.
You ain't no redneck - you're all Yankee!

How Redneck Are You?

You Communicate With Your Ears

You love conversations, both as a listener and a talker.
What people say is important to you, and you're often most affected by words, not actions.
You love to hear complements from others. And when you're upset, you often talk to yourself.
Music is very important to you. It's difficult to find you without your iPod.

How Do You Communicate?

You Are 20% Sociopath

You're empathetic, loyal, and introspective.
In other words, there's no way you're a sociopath... but you can spot one pretty easily!

Are You A Sociopath?

Half the year’s gone. Soon, we’ll just forget everything. I’ll be too lazy to read my blog and remember anyth. Most probably the VIP will fade from memory as we move on to other (hopefully better) things in life. I just want to say even if I forget any of you people, that we’ve lived for the moment, and thanks for the great experiences. Maybe one day we’ll meet again.

I wrote just before school started this year:

“This year IS going to be great.I hope it will be funner, crazier, happier, excitinger than the last. =)”

The first half of 2006 could’ve been better, like many other things. But I wish the really special days of the year, the days that mean a lot to me, could have been special – they just passed by like ordinary days.

These times will fade away in black and white.

First week of school, Helmsman Week:

It was a bright start. A day of shopping, SHATEC (haha I still remember the spaghetti and getting up when certain people left the table), GSE, anticipating the surprise bio test. Then it was the NACLI camp. One hell of a crazy time. The dominos and stuff. Lol.

STJ:
Ok. 06V13. WHERE’S OUR JTS!!! Haha. went bowling with the juniors, then the bbq, and the exploding ball of flame thing. Woo! And we watched Memoirs of a Geisha the next day (xtine’s bdae!) hahaha. GEISHA!!!

CNY:
Visiting, some nice smses. And in tradition, me and xtine smsing each other about vdae. =) Haha. and cheese and wine. And huge meals. And red packets. and watching opera. And cartoons. And going all over Singapore. And the DHSGEP/P6GEP people coming over to visit. Haha and that evening, watched fun with DICK and jane with the juniors. And cross country the next day. Wow I still remember the crazy pains brought by red bull. Wah bull sia.

Hot dog hunting:
Omgosh. This wasn’t a like… event kind of thing. But like must say! It was just both idiotic and totally random. Haha basically, xtine agreed to go with me to compasspoint to get american hotdogs. Then I went back to tm, and found out they sold there. WTH. Haha sorry xtine for dragging you all the way.

Hmm. Found an interesting post.

“Haha. But you. Haha if you can't see how obvious it is every morning, how obvious he makes it to be, then I think you're just inobservant. I mean come on, look at the words he says (and I won't say what), yet you're still stuck in a world of your own. Haha.”

LOL. and I still remember who it’s about. That was the time I started writing stories for my anthology called noir. All the angsty stuff. And I’m still adding to it.

Feb10:
The second mangoyam escapade! LOL. We were buying stuff for vdae. Then had dinner at swensen’s with naz n char. Then had mangoyam! It still brings back good memories haha. mmm!

Vdae:
I was super hyper in the morn. Got some gifts and stuff. But then it totally went downhill. But we had haagen dazs after school. And that was nice. I wrote at the end “The truth has always and will always hurt.” But the next day was good. We started singing and recording songs! Omgosh. Totally cool and random. Our very first V13 single. We’re a superband. And we know it. =) and it was also when we started shooting the rubber bullets out of the guns the psls bought. Haha I miss those. We should go buy more guns. I saw the last one in that pool of liquid under the air con. That was long ago.

March7/8/9/10:

Better days than most. On the 7, the Chinese class spammed my blog with crap. I wrote one of my better stories. And the day ended well. =)

8th was the physics song! Hahaha fun =) I still have that photo of yr and pam. AHAHAHA. Gosh I’m evil. And you could see him staring at (smth) LOLOLOL. And lang arts was spent arm wrestling with the girls digging their fingernails into the guys. Grr.

9th was great cos we screened stuff (including the physong vids from my cam) and watched stuff in class. Haha it’s fun watching stuff as a class. Especially since we had such a damn big screen. I think next time we should just buy movies and watch them in class instead of going to the cinema. Haha.

10th was great too! Haha it was the last day of term1. went to pizza hut for a huge meal and totally nice deco in pizza hut and nice brownie too! And I fell in love with cheesy lava stuffed crust that day. Then there was an evolution seminar that night.

In addition, 14th was fun haha cos my group went to Old Airport rd to eat Singaporean food. Haha. love the rojak and oyster omelette and almond cream and rice balls MMM.

M31:
WOO! Cosiety totally pwned that day. Especially the signs. Haha. cool la. And some “please mind the gap” signs are still in the loos! Too bad the ayam logo was taken down haha. it was pretty much an injoke from last year’s NIBC. Haha I love the YO VJC signs. I take pride in that. And xtine does too. =)

Art of Star Wars:

Oh my gosh. We only had half an hour but we covered the whole exhibition and took photos with the grand master of darksidedness! Woo. Haha I love star wars lego! I LOVE STAR WARS LEGO WOOOOOOO =) haha I still haven’t used the keychain. Oh oh! The Chinese food thing we went to after sw was nice =)

Helmsman week 2:
I mean, totally, the best (and craziest and most memorable) part of the whole thing was not part of Helmsman week. I think some of you (or all of you) still remember – the blindfold duels. Zhi Quan and Zong He and like woah. The video’s still up. http://web.vjc.moe.edu.sg/students/v05v13_hengsxm/siths.wmv
I respect.

Then we also made the first All Your Base video. It’s legend. =)

Sports Day/Good Friday:
Hahaha. Pretty normal days. A lot of great cheering though. Haha Aquila rocks! On good Friday, went with yirui, leanne, leqiao to church of our saviour. Haha then Holland v! nice place. And saw the worms. Yum. =)

Regale:
Wow. Regale was stunning. Haha. “danced her shoes off” haha. that week also saw the start of uk trip prep. Great times, those. =) and combi prep too. Lol.

Drama Nite:
Pwnage. We put in a hell a hell a hell lot of effort. I guess it was worth it. Haha. I still remember the packed food and exchange of veg and meat and trees. OMGOSH TREES. I love you trees! =) flapping arms. And the dances. And the faces. Haha great times =) the late nights were worth the experiences. And the flowers! Haha thanks for the flowers. And shouting yo vjc!

VIP Open House:
The next day was open house. Haha was like still groggy and all. And it was totally rushed cos we were the last group to start preparing but we made it in time! And it was a pretty great job. Especially with no Thana dancing around and knocking plasma balls over. =) the mass dances were great. And I remember shouting yo vjc. Haha. fun. I was vj-high those 2 days. Great times. Went out after that. Haha. fun. =)

Workers Party Rally:
Nazri and I got into deep shid. My shoes had to be washed after that escapade. But haha COOL. Hearing all the crap they talked. And the hokkien vulgarities. And the flag! I still have it! Haha cool. =) like a rock concert. Without the music.

Drama pracs:
Haha drama@expo was totally crazy. The pics are still up. Gosh we’re good. HAHAHAHA fun =) watched mi3 the next day. Haha and charissa started the whole bread pit/brad pitt thing there. LOL. the Daniel band was great! And so was the ice cream. And mi3. it’s like WOAH. Damn mindblowing show. Haha.

London group shopping:

WOO we got the mother’s day meal hahahaha. Whee. I got really restless during shopping tho haha. but still! Haha London group! =)

EDS nite:
Hahaha it was hmmm.. crazily funny. =) Hope to see you guys soon! Keep in touch =)

Drama SYF:
YUSOF POWER!!! I hope to see that truck again. We din’t take a photo with it! =( haha but yay! Perfect run. Even though we only got silver, I guess it was the impossibility of squeezing such a great book into 30 mins. And more late nights. But worth it. We did our best. And it was great. =) Thanks for the memories! Haha and the next day I got gold for napfa! Whee.

VJC vs. MJC:
Gosh. PWNAGE. The last 4 minutes. 3 goals. The adrenaline rushes. Still orgasmic.

Majestia, Birthday:
Mass dances. Went shopping after school. Majestia was great. It was a short day. Nothing special really. It just passed by

London group shopping 2:
Hahaha yumm coconut ice cream!

UK Trip 2006:
Too much stuff. Wish I could relive it. But quite upset about some stuff that happened. And only 2 people will know. Haha.

Nobody even noticed.
He’s just a ragdoll.
Always been all along.

Haha RM today. Ok we more or less have something concrete. Especially because we have a Singaporean topic now. Which is quite interesting haha. yay. But I’m really tired now. Stayed up till 2 doing rm (which was changed today to our current topic haha) slept at 3 after doing crap. Oh oh! Challenger is having an EA sale. Bf2 has a deluxe edition now! (with special forces or with special forces AND euro force) WOO. What I’ve been waiting for. And bfme2 is selling for 40 if I buy it tgt with bf2 haha. WOO.

Anyway. Yeah. rm. Haha I went through the annual reports of 4 years, laura n mich went thru microfilms (I personally prefer reading) haha quite cool leh. To see the old currency system of £sd still in use (but damn hard to use for us decimalized ppl) and to see all the stuff you don’t read in textbooks. I learnt how Singapore was really governed. And the annual reports are quite cool la. As in like.. wow. It’s just amazing having text from decades ago. Haha. had lunch at pastamania. Then ARCADE omgosh I got pwned. =( not fair la. But I played my first round of para para and got B on all 4 stages! Haha cool. It’s way easier than ddr. Then borrowed random books, and went for dinner at changi then home.

Why not we make things hard for you this time?
Choose.
Do you even dare to say my name?
Me or him?

Most people forgot.
I still remember that day.
But nobody even noticed.

Part III!
You asked for it!

day9

Imperial College. 3rd in the UK. Lol nothing much to say liao. Haha around the same as the others. I think imperial’s the best for the sciences? Conversely, LSE is best for social sciences. dunno la. Haha. anyway, Harrod’s! haha I went around myself. Bought quite a lot of stuff. A world cup lighter cos it looked so nice, a Harrod’s pen, some candies, tea etc. haha the restrooms are amazing. And so is the deco. And it’s what it’s supposed to be – a wonderland. Haha like huge halls with luxury goods. Oh the adult games section was cool. They had all the cards and stuff. Haha fun.

Then BBC! But security was like oO. Got to see the studios. I thought they’d be bigger. But watching and using blue screen for real was the best part. And the interactive studio. It was quite rushed la. Got to see the sugababes and some talk show. But for a short while. Actually it wasn’t that spectacular. What was totally mindblowingly spectacular was to come.

THE LION KING! OMGOSH. It’s the most amazing thing. It’s beauty so deep that the starting scene was enough to bring tears. It was like just so full of splendour, the music was soul-stirring, and hearing that kind of world music is woah. And the African chorals are by far some of the most beautiful voices in the world. Wow. The whole thing was like a multiple orgasm. Woah. I mean shid. It’s better than any movie I’ve ever watched (and forgive me, even Star Wars, beating the Battle of Coruscant and Coruscant and Naboo scenes by far. Ok maybe not naboo. But wow.) it’s amazing. Splendid. The props are crazy la. And like ELEPHANTS. Wth! Gosh. The mere memory of it still brings gasps.

day10

Camden town in the morn. Haha it’s quite like… hmm.. Suburban market thing. Like flea markets. Haha all the cool shid. Esp the t-shirts. Like “I fucked your girlfriend” or “Jesus is coming back, hide the porn!” (I dunno if it’s blasphemy hmm) and all the weird cds they don’t sell in stores anymore. And porn shops. (which, with great sadness, we din’t get to go into) and cool shops selling dark stuff and uv stuff and lingerie and SICK SICK SICK stuff which the others (not me!) were unusually attracted to. Omgosh la. They had like dildos and penises and poker cards with “stuff” on them. Ew. And a squirter. I mean like WTH. Ew then went around a bit.

VJC alumni thing. Took the tube around then walked around. And had tea at the damn cool Moroccan café where we smoked shisha! (“A traditional Middle Eastern or Asian device for smoking, which operates by water-filtration and indirect heat.”) cool la. Somemore tobacco de. And you don’t act like you’re smoking when u have some chocstick in your mouth, you actually smoke real smoke! Haha so amusing. And you suck and blow and suck and blow. Woo!

Then I was out of cash (as in I din’t want to touch the other 200 pounds) so I went budget for dinner! With sean at oxford street and Tottenham. Then we found some comic store and he was moaning in delight. Then we went into Brit museum just as it was closing wah! So irritating. So stayed around in the great court which is like pure white and light haha nice. The smell of fried onions outside was overbearing and sean had to drag me into the souvenir shop to stop my from spending more cash. HAHA. ok so I should have just spent. But anyway, I wasn’t really hungry in the end. It was just the smell. Mmmm.

day11/12

what sadness! What manifestations of emptiness! We were going home. Haha Heathrow felt and looked a lot like narita on the day we left. Me and nic checked in tgt haha. but dint get seats beside each other so we had to switch. Then talked a lot of cock throughout the flight. Then she went to sleep and I drew and wrote stuff. Meals were ok. And we watched pink panther hahahah so fun! =) Then the flight from bru-sgp was fun cos me and nick whacked charissa with pillows hahah. But I got my heart broken. Aww. Then back home. Wah the heat was like woah. Bam. But got used to sgp weather quite quickly. Ah well. Home. Sweet home. But LONDON. Oh the pain!

We are left behind with echoes of

Mike test. Ok everyone,

1. We have reached our disembarkation point. Disembark and move quickly to the side of the pavement.
2. We are reaching the hotel. Wake up your friends.
3. Wake anyone who’s sleeping, this is our itinerary for the day"

Part II!!!

day5

LSE. Haha well, the social sciences is one area I’m pretty interested in (along with geography and aeronautical engineering which are essential for the aspiring pilot) so LSE is an option (though I’d prefer to study undergrad in NUS, then possibly postgrad in UK). It’s another one of those London unis. I’d prefer a campus uni like NUS or Warwick or Oxford, where most of the stuff is self-contained and self-sufficient. Haha the better part was taking group photos and finding Serena’s sis! Haha cool.

Crossing the Thames, we arrived outside the Imperial War Museum where we had a couple of hours to picnic and frolic in the grass. (FROLIC!) There were too many taupoks to count. Rather unsurprisingly, I was the first target. Bleh. Then we got Daniel. Haha he was resting and lying down. Then the v13 guys got him. He saw us coming and bounced up and ran and we used the pincer move like in rugby and brought him down then some 11 guys joined too. And this carried on for a while. Till we played ice and water. And I was highly amused by a ladybug! Haha so nice. =) haha and there’re no insects or mud or dirty stuff in the grass and fields like in sgp. I wish we had such places so we could frolic (FROLIC) in green all day long! Haha fun =)

The IWM was an eye-opener. Especially the 30000 children forced to fight in a single, ongoing African war, the genocide and seeing all those bones. I used to love watching war films and learning about weaponry (and most prob still do), but I now realise (yes, it took that long) that war is nothing but death, suffering, bloodshed, tears. War films are just Hollywood’s ploys. I’ll go on enjoying the adrenaline rush and excitement and adventure such portray, but I know I’ll never glorify war, and I’ll only fight when it’s to defend this soil. Yeah. Haha ANYWAY. Wow. IWM was amazing. It was like destiny. To see real-life scale models of Spitfire, Camel, Mustang, FW190, the exhibitions were ;amazing. Like wow.

Then it was Kilburn. It’s a suburb. So more full of interesting characters. Had dinner in a café. Saw a syringe in the toilet. Was like oO. Kinda suspicious, but in the end we admired the people working there, because they were just trying to make an honest living. (Go make the link yourself) very generous serving of steak too. Haha watched “The Field” about Irish land and stuff. Much more accessible than Smaller. And meaningful too, and sometimes more realistic and down to earth. Quite a good show.

day6

We travelled to Warwick. Haha warwick castle is AMAZING. And the countryside too. Haha I was super amused at the animals. I was like COW!! OMGOSH SHEEP! Haha. So fun! =) then the castle. Wow. It’s like seeing AOE come to life. Like seeing the game you used to play pop up in real 3D and with real living stuff before your eyes, including a real treb. Wow. Haha got to walk though the walls. And see the countryside fade beyond the horizon. Nice. But quite boring la. More of visual amazement. Haha I love my England flag pic. =) shall upload it somewhere once I’m done with e photos.

Stratford-upon-Avon – Shakespeare’s birthplace, home, deathbed, sunbather’s haven, RSC centre. Shakespeare was pretty boring, but got to see what Tudor life was like, and the garden was beautiful. Took photos there! And shopping for books. And pub meal. Haha love cottage pie! And saw swans and ducks and geese by the river! Haha. And met my cousin Janice there. From various sources, there were at least 5 schs in UK at the time we were there – VJC (possible 2 trips, dunno where the lit trip went), RJC, PLMGS – these are the confirmed – and RI, RGS. Cool la. Sgp pwnage. We watched romeo and Juliet which was pretty romantic and the ladder thing was cool and the tapdancing was not bad either and they had cool quotes there too. Whee!

Then we stayed at a Travelodge. Which was quite minimal but ok la. A bit like chalet actually.

day7

had breakfast w daryl at the little chef. Haha overpriced shid. Pancakes and milk. Ah well. Could see hills rising in the distance. Then went to oxford! Quite unimpressed la. But some parts were still breathtaking. Went punting w yr, sim, char, Xh. Sorry for being so sucky at it! Bleh. But ducks! Omgosh ducks. Haha I like ducks. Tho their poo is like sausage like, just that its white with green splotches. LOL. haha met a few others on the way too.

The ghost tour was quite fun. Haha interesting stories and the view from the top of the manmade well hill was nice. And sam got super obsessed with some stupid pic he took lol. and Justin made the best (and only) scares of the day. Lol I was like “Justin what are you doing!” then he silenced me and jumped out at the girls (and most prob some guys including yr) behind me. And they were screaming like the bimbos they are. HAHAHAHA.

Ate a ¼ pounder from a kebab van thing. Totally great. Should be how mcd burgers are made. Those are the real things. The hostel food was actually nice (maybe they tailored it for that evening) – lasagne! Haha. And the rooms are fine. But one bathroom for 6 ppl is disgusting, unhygienic and totally ineffective. Lol. I think I’d be better off living in my own apartment. Which is fun actually. =)

day8

Warwick uni is a campus uni. Haha they’re famous for math. Totally not me. But the blackboard! OH THE BLACKBOARD! And that professor’s handwriting was like woah. But he spoke real slowly. Most of the profs spoke real slowly. Haha. I think the campus is abv average. Lots of greenery here and there. And cool stuff. And the chaplaincy was interesting. Oh but smoked salmon! Yum.

Natural History Museum. Gosh it’s HUGE. I mean like not even science centre and discovery centre put together could outsize it. Woah. love the earth galleries. Haha I got a piece of fool’s gold! Cool shiny thing. And they covered everything ms low taught. (I think everyth la.) and had cool dino models and a lot of visual stuff. Which makes learning there all the more fun. I love the memory and skills and dna inheritance part of the growing up thing. Amazing.

Haha ate at pizza express. Yum ice cream! And got to see Chelsea stadium – Stanford Bridge. Haha at first we were at the outside, and dark side was like “ok. Well, that’s it” and he smirked. And we were like “that’s it?!” then the nice guard opened up the doors and breathlessness came. Wow. Blue and white seats spelling CHELSEA, green field. Huge stadium. Which totally pwns tamp stadium. Haha.

Gtg do RM now. AH.

Just realised I blogged nothing about today. Haha slept from 3am last night to 3pm today. Then was craving sliced fish with spring onion and cereal prawns! So we had that for dinner at Street 11. Yup. Watched Sgp Idol. Lalala.

markhsx is in da house!
back by popular demand. =)

it's the one you've all been longing for.
the one you've all been waiting for.
it's here.

and it's BIG

haha ok so part 1. and argh my grammar thing isn’t working. Oh yay now it is. Haha realised I din’t check “capitalize first letter of sentences”. And it’s in US eng! Grr. Yay. Ok. So yeah, part 1 of the UK trip post! (I’m gonna go day by day as is my traditional travelogue style)

day1/2

I met my group at the airport. I had cheng tng haha. Yes, I still remember. Then we all met up. Parents, teachers, friends, all. After some hugs and goodbyes, we went in, after the first of many briefings. Then another briefing after passing the immigration thing. Went around the airport. Haha I love the sunflower garden! So full of bright yellow sunflowers and you can see the airport and stuff. Haha they had free Xboxes (as in to play, not giveaway) and net connection. Then we took group photos, and went on our way to Brunei.

Royal Brunei, as I had said earlier, focuses more on service. Almost everyone (or everyone actually) was disappointed that there were no personal screens (we only had mirrors on the a319s), maybe besides the teachers, who were reading sick books. (Some people asked me to ask what book darkside was reading. And he wouldn’t tell me. He was like smirking, “why do you want to know?”) Hur hur. Their service was pretty good la. But nothing compared to SQ. (GO SINGAPORE) haha. the meals were ok. But breakfasts SUCK. Especially if you order egg (which I did on both ways there and back) – omelette or scrambled. Tasteless and pudding-like. The other meals are average or above average. The rice dishes are pretty good. Western dishes average only.

Got the first of my many ripoffs at Brunei airport. Buying a note and some stamps which amount to around $2 for $10. grrness. But nvm, it’s quite nice. But still a very big ripoff. A fivefold ripoff. Grr. Anyway, yeah. Haha dubai was nice. But from what we heard abt the temperatures, it seems dubai at night (30+) is even hotter than Singapore in the day. Lol. they called me “Mr Haeng”. LOL. Managed to get some sleep on the plane. We watched 50 1st dates in the morning! Haha. a sweet and nice movie.

I was first into London yay. As in out of immigration. Haha. the weather was cold and windy and dry. Totally opposite from sgp. It was still spring. Quite brr-ry. Had a first look at London. I love the concorde model! Hmm. Went to the tower of London! Haha I had become photohigh when we reached the thames. Haha nice. The nicest thing about tower of London were rows and rows of guns, muskets and rifles. Wow. The jewels were like.. ok la… they’re huge jewels. But they were shiny. Yay. Shiny. =) haha and we saw the tower guards! The change of guards! What perfect timing! Cool. I was like the first to notice. I was like ehh why he suddenly move de. Then the next moment I was shouting oh they’re changing! Lol.

Lunch at Covent Garden pizza hut. Unlike sgp, they still have the buffet there. Wow. Lots and lots of pizza! Haha yay. And for 4 pounds I think. That’s $12 for freeflow pizza! Went to Trafalgar square and some charing cross tube station magic shop with the group. Haha pigeons and fountains and statues! Quite a nice place. Went back to Covent Garden. Then we crossed the Thames and went to the London Eye! It’s an amazing spectacle. What great architecture! Haha so white and bright. And the capsules are like futuristic haha. and a great view of London too! Haha totally beautiful. But quite slow. Haha but the time spent inside was worth it.

Then it was off to the hotel at Chelsea. Jurys Inn is a pretty small hotel. But nice! Haha. not mindblowing. But has a familiar air and atmosphere. Went to Sainsbury in the evening. Gosh la. Everywhere in London they sell porn beside the normal magazines. You take up some normal-looking magazine and you turn the pages and it blows your mind into bits. Went around with tine looking for water and lipbalm haha. then when we got out, the sun had started to set (at 8+), casting golden upon the sky, and it took until 10 to set and for darkness to fall.

day3

The Globe! It’s not as exciting after you’ve read about it in so many books. But we had a funny tour guide who, together with the exhibition, showed us a lot about what life was like for people living in England then. The gift shop had really cool stuff. The timeline poster was beautiful. But I din’t buy it cos I din’t really know how to pack it without destroying it. The quotes were like cool. Haha “love is merely a madness” WOO. It is. And I’ve learnt that too many times. Haha. anyway, we had sandwiches for lunch along the thames. (which, according to darkside, is how many Londoners like to have their lunches)

Then it was the tate modern. Woo! I love the white pureness of the galleries. And some of the pieces were more.. interesting and sometimes touching. Like the car engines one, where they show how photojournalists race to see car engines that have flown from car bombings, which are the only parts that survive. I like the feminist exhibition too. And the photograph exhibitions are just amazing. Pop art was cool too. I saw my fave pop art piece! By Lichtenstein. The P-51 shooting down a MiG. Woo.

After shopping, (and seeing the fuck book, which would definitely not be sold in Sgp – but totally amusing) we crossed the millennium bridge into convent garden for a 2nd round of shopping. Haha love the ice cream there. Stuff there are seriously overpriced. As in seriously. A budget lunch there could be the price of a meal in swensen’s here. I’ll talk about budget lunches later haha. we had our own dinner at Leicester square. Went with tine, sean, kog, zh to bella Italia, and had pasta for 9 pounds. Mighty expensive ($27) but mighty delicious pasta it was! Hahaha yumm. Then some quick shopping at picadilly circus.

And then Smaller. Which is supposedly a great show. The plot was interesting enough. But I don’t think any of us got most of the British in-jokes and slang. And there were too many. It was the play where most people slept (but I din’t HA) then it was back to the hotel.

day4

Our very first university visit. UCL. The institutions in London (and London in general) were pretty technologically backward as compared to our darling Singapore. They considered projectors high-tech. I was like oO. But anyway, most of the London unis were pretty nice. Albeit small. They have like hundreds of societies and clubs and sports though, the student unions are a cool idea, along with the Singapore society. Most of the features like in terms of accommodation or welfare are pretty similar among the London unis. They’re full of cool history and statues and huge libs. Haha.

Went with diane and mr koh to the banks to see if we could get our cash changed to new notes. The national banks don’t do it. But HSBC did! The world’s local bank haha. then went around with diane and split up after we met the v11 girls. Haha I love the bookshops and I bought a nice shiny lighter (which ran out of gas liao). Then Kew Gardens!!! Omgosh omgosh omgosh. Totally green and full of wide spaces and ducks and swans and ponds and lakes. Haha nice. It’s so green. Like green. Then you turn around and see more green. And it was so amusing to see the ducks quack instead of steaming on a plate. And pretty flowers. And it’s just high.

Dinner at a pub. Cod in the UK is like bland compared to Chinese style cod in sgp. Sigh. Oh but ice cream! And I started proposing toasts and it was fun =) haha. toasted to everyone who would toast. =) like for Justin: for talking the biggest cock in the world. HAHA. then we watched Chicago. The songs are amazing. It was full of energy and totally lively. Haha. and there were binoculars. I was like lol. and got one, but it’s no use when you have perfect eyesight and the binos just reduce the amount of space you can see. Sigh. I ended up eating 3 pound double choc ice cream. Mmm.

Ok it’s 13:37! Blog more tmr. =)
